Interview - Teaching Artist Podcast

Through conversations with teaching artists, an art educators support group, and resources like lesson plans and workshops, we are building community and sharing stories to connect our islands and make equitable liberatory teaching the norm.

Teaching Artist Podcast was started by Rebecca Potts Aguirre, a visual arts teaching artist. She interviews practicing artists who are also educators in K-12 and community settings. This podcast is dedicated to discussions of teaching art, making art, and how those things overlap and feed each other.

In episode 100, Rebecca interviews practicing artists who offer insight and advice to other art teachers. In this interview, Renee Kuharchuk speaks to the challenges of teaching alongside strategies to manage the work flow. See the detailed show notes here

November Artist - Dry City

Dry City hosts local area artists who display custom work. Featured artwork by Renee Kuharchuk whose work explores themes of femininity and mental health. Her work is on display for the month of November.

Tell Me A Story - St. Louis Artist Guild

The exhibition includes works of various styles and mediums that lead the viewer toward or through a narrative. Creative writers will be invited into the gallery and asked to connect with a piece of art and interpret and continue the stories that the artists portray in their work. Responses will be published in the gallery and on the STLAG website.

Tell Me A Story opening reception at the St. Louis Artist Guild, St. Louis, MO

Tell Me a Story is the newest group show at the St. Louis Artists' Guild exploring narrative driven artwork. In addition to a wide array of mediums and ideas being presented in this collection of works, creative writers are also invited into the gallery and asked to interpret and continue the stories portrayed in the artists' pieces.

2022 IHSAE Annual Educator Exhibition

ArtConnected, along with the Illinois Art Education Association and BLICK Art Materials host an annual juried exhibition that recognizes the artistic talents of Illinois’ art educators from all across the state of Illinois. Participating artists range in experience from first time educators to seasoned veterans. Developed nearly a decade ago, the exhibition aims to reconnect Illinois art educators with their own personal artistic practice, create a sense of community while providing a professional exhibition experience. Each year a wide range of amazing artworks are featured in the show, such as painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, fiber, glass, mixed media, digital arts, video, ceramics, jewelry and more. All works are original and have been completed within the last calendar year.
