Handmade, touchable tapestry
4’ x 4’ x 3’
Made to display in a corner
Synonymous with my paintings, these soft, touchable tapestries use expressive, repetitive marks. Made by the automated machine that tufts the fibers into a cohesive form, the juxtaposition of the physicality of the gun versus the predominately female traditional crafting of rug hooking bends gender dynamics. The bold colors exaggerate reality, while the soft, round, undulating shapes of the tapestries become synonymous with comfort. Offering a soothing, interactive tactile experience. The juxtaposition of these experiences demonstrates the many facets of mental health.
